Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz. penne pasta or pasta of your choice
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 16 oz. container Trader Joe's lobster bisque
  • 1 16 oz. package Trader Joe's Argentinian Shrimp OR 12 oz. Trader Joe's frozen langostino tails, thawed cut into small pieces
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese + more for serving
  • fresh basil, optional for serving
  • olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Cook Pasta: In a large pot of boiling water, cook pasta to al dente according to package instructions. Drain, and set aside.
  • Start the sauce: While the pasta is cooking, heat a little olive oil in a large skillet. Add onions and cook 2-3 minutes until soft. Then, add shrimp and cook until shrimp are cooked through — about 2-3 minutes.
  • Finish Sauce: To the onions and shrimp, add the lobster bisque and cherry tomatoes. Stir, and cook until heated through.
  • Add Pasta & Finish: To the skillet, add your cooked pasta. Toss until the pasta is well-coated with the sauce. Add in Parmesan cheese and stir. Serve right away and garnish with more parmesan, if needed!

Notes

Storage: You can store any leftovers in an airtight container for about 1-2 days. To reheat, just add a splash of chicken stock or heavy cream to loosen up the sauce a bit.
Substitutions: You can add spinach or more veggies if you don’t want to add the shrimp. This dish would also be just fine with chicken!
Serve With: A simple green salad and garlic bread!

    I made this tonight and it comes out great just as is, but seemed not to pop like I wanted. It had the right consistency after I added one ladle of pasta water. I did not think it needed heavy cream actually, I did add some agave syrup and then the flavors really popped especially the tomatoes. I think I added a tablespoon of agave syrup and then this was a totally winner recipe. I liked the addition of the lemon juice and lemon zest and the Aleppo pepper. Have half the sauce left over with no shrimp, will make the leftovers in a few days. Total winner recipe, easy to make and tasty.

    Tasty recipe that’s not complicated! I ended up using chopped shallots and then threw in 4 lobster tails. Used radiatore pasta which holds the sauce well. As others have mentioned, added in a bit of heavy cream, butter and a bit of white pepper. The bisque is pretty clean, not salty at all.

    Just made this and it went well! I used TJ’s seafood blend of shrimp, bay scallops, and calamari as the base with onions and garlic. I also used canned tomatoes toward the end after adding soup.

    I served the bisque over Trader Joe’s Spinach and Chive Linguine and topped with seared Hokkaido Scallops!
    Just one question ~ how can I thicken the sauce?

    1. So glad you liked it! There are a few easy things you can do. The easiest is adding a bit of heavy cream and more Parmesan cheese. That will thicken it slightly. If you want it thicken, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water/broth, then whisk into the warm sauce.
      Simmer 1–2 minutes until it thickens slightly. Let us know how it turns out! XO~ Casey

    Delish! Two minor changes—-cook tomatoes with the onions and add lobster with the pasta— just needs a couple minutes to cook

    So good!! Definitely going into the dinner rotation. I used Argentinian shrimp and I added some garlic into the pan before I added the shrimp!

    I give this 5 stars! ( it would only allow me to give 3 stars?) I made it with the Argentinian shrimp, then I added garlic and white Wine. Also added lots of black pepper. So delicious!

    1. The bisque does have heavy cream in it so yes, you CAN freeze it, but just note that it might separate and curdle a bit. Soups with cream aren’t the best to freeze! XO ~ Casey

    Enjoyed that it was quick, easy and a little fancy. Recommend adding Jalepeno Beef sausage, fresh parsley and basil and lots of parm cheese. The sausage gave it just the right kick. I used cooked langostino instead of shrimp

    You might think that the recipe lacks seasoning, but keep in mind that the container of TJ bisque is already well-seasoned with salt. I normally pat dry shrimp and add salt before adding it to the saute pan, but in this case, it’s best to omit this step until tasting after adding the bisque sauce.
