EXPERT TIPS

  • Save Time: Grating the cucumber and squeezing out the water definitely gives the tzatziki sauce a nice, smooth texture. However, if you want to just chop up the cucumber into small pieces and throw it in, that’s perfectly fine, too!

Casey’s Top Tip: Of course, this sauce is perfect to go along with chicken pitas, but use any leftover tzatziki as a dip for veggies or pita chips!

SUBSTITUTIONS AND VARIATIONS

  • About a tablespoon of fresh mint is a wonderful addition if you have some on hand!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 English cucumber, grated or finely chopped
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced the best garlic chopper!
  • 2 tbsp dried dill
  • 1/2 large lemon, juiced 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt or sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Mix: In a small bowl, add all ingredients for the tzatziki sauce. Stir well to combine. Cover, and place in the fridge until you are ready to use drizzle it heavily onto these chicken pitas!

Notes

Note: Totally optional, but if you decide to grate the cucumber, place it in a paper towel and gently squeeze out any excess water. This will prevent your tzatziki sauce from getting watery and it will keep longer in the fridge. If you are consuming the sauce right away, no need to do this!
