RECIPE INGREDIENTS

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this delicious, easy sauce for salmon cakes:

RECIPE TIPS & TRICKS

  • Chill for a few hours. This sauce gets better with age so make it ahead of time to allow flavors to meld together. Just give a good stir before serving.
  • Adjust consistency. If you prefer a thicker sauce, use less lemon juice or add more mayonnaise. If you’d like to drizzle this sauce, increase the amount of lemon juice or thin it out with a teaspoon or two of milk.

Confidence Tip

Feel free to customize to taste and adjust the quantities of garlic, sweet relish, dill, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Taste the sauce as you go and adjust as desired.

HOW TO STORE THIS SAUCE

Storage: Store leftover sauce in an airtight container like a mason jar in the refrigerator for up to one week. Use clean utensils when scooping out the sauce to prevent contamination.

ADDITIONS & SUBSTITUTIONS

ADDITIONS:

  • Add some heat – Add a few dashes of Tabasco or your favorite hot sauce.
  • Capers – For a briny, tangy flavor, stir in some chopped capers. They go perfectly with any seafood.
  • Crunchy addition – For some texture and a bit of crunch, add diced pickled jalapenos or pickled red onions.
  • Worcestershire sauce – Add a splash or two for some umami flavor.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • Fresh dill – Swap out the dried dill with fresh herbs like dill, parsley, or green onions. Make sure to chop it finely though so it mixes well into the sauce.
  • Pickles – You can substitute sweet relish with chopped pickles for a similar sweet and tangy flavor.
  • Garlic powder – If you don’t have fresh garlic, use garlic powder instead. The garlic flavor won’t be as strong but it will still be delicious.
