What makes this chicken bake so special?

Not only is this recipe insanely easy, it will be a hit with your family or guests! The chicken is seasoned, and the Caesar dressing and cheese hold in the moisture, leaving it super tender and juicy! The seasoned croutons give the dish the perfect crunch. I’m telling you, you cannot go wrong with this recipe!

INGREDIENT NOTES, SUBSTITUTIONS & ADDITIONS

Chicken breast: Use thinly-sliced boneless, skinless chicken breasts, if possible. If your chicken is a bit thicker, simply pound it out so the chicken cooks evenly. You can use a meat mallet like this one.

Cheese: I think I use a different kind of cheese every time I make this recipe! Provolone is tangy and super melty, so I use that the most often. Mozzarella, parmesan, fontina, cheddar, or a blend of whatever you have is going to be great, too!

Croutons: I love the “Casear” kind, but any seasoned croutons will work.

Dressing: Ken’s Creamy Caesar is my favorite because I think it tastes the best PLUS, it’s thick and creamy and binds to the chicken well.

CASEY’S NOTES

  • Use thin chicken breasts: Thin, evenly sized chicken breasts cook more evenly and stay juicy. If needed, pound them to an even thickness before baking.
  • No extra salt: Don’t be tempted to season the chicken with any salt (been there, tried that!). Between the dressing and the croutons, this dish has enough salt and it super flavorful.
  • Storing leftovers: Store any leftover Caesar chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer at 350°F until warmed through. This helps crisp the crouton topping back up.

Casey’s Top Tip: Leftovers (if you have any!) make the most amazing next-day lunch! Chop up the leftover chicken and wrap it in a tortilla with some lettuce, tomato and an extra drizzle of Caesar dressing. Such a yummy Caesar chicken wrap!

CAESAR CHICKEN VARIATIONS

  • Ranch chicken: Swap out Caesar dressing for ranch and voila! Ranch chicken on the table! (Hint: Add a little crumbled bacon to make it extra flavorful)
  • Tomato Basil Caesar Chicken: Add sliced tomatoes before baking and top with fresh basil after it comes out of the oven.
  • Caesar Chicken Sliders: Slice the cooked chicken and serve on toasted slider buns with shredded lettuce and tomato slices.

Total Time 40 minutes

Cuisine American
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts thin-cut work best so ensure fast and even cooking
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Caesar dressing our favorite is Ken's Creamy Caesar dressing
  • 6 slices Provolone cheese You can swap with whatever melty cheese you like! Mozzarella, fontina, or even white cheddar work great.
  • 1 cup croutons
  • cooking spray I love this avocado oil spray

Instructions

  • Prep: Preheat oven to 375°.  If the chicken breasts aren’t of equal thickness, pound them out to ensure even cooking. Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish and sprinkle both sides with garlic powder and pepper.
  • Add the dressing: Spoon the Caesar dressing over the chicken breasts (you can use more or less depending on your preference) and spread the dressing until it evenly coats the chicken.
  • Step 3: Place the cheese slices over the top of the chicken.
  • Add croutons: Place the croutons in a plastic bag and crush them with a meat mallet until they are broken into smaller crumbs/pieces. Sprinkle the croutons over the cheese and spritz the top generously with cooking spray.
  • Bake: Bake at 375°F for 30-40 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of at least 165°F. Start checking around the 30 minute mark so the chicken doesn't overcook. If the croutons aren’t golden brown, broil for 2-3 minutes.
Allow the chicken to cool for a minute or two and serve right away. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or Parmesan cheese, if you like.
