10 Amazing Wines Under $20
Ever just stare at the wine wall at the grocery store and have no idea how to choose a wine? In this post, I have made picking wine simple. I have rounded up 10 of my very favorite budget-friendly wine picks–both red wine and white wine!
Everyone’s palette is so different! All of us like and dislike all sorts of different foods, and the same holds true with wine!
My goal isn’t to convince you that any of these wines is “the best.” Instead, I want to suggest a few of my favorites in hopes that maybe you will a new wine under $20 that you love! Cheers, friends!!!
Coppola Diamond Claret
Price Point: About $14
Availability: Widely available @ grocery stores, big box stores, Trader Joes, online
The Nitty Gritty: For whatever reason, if I am staring blankly at the wine wall at the grocery store and have NO CLUE what to get, I will just reach for the Coppola Claret. Just because I know it’s always good! Everyone needs a go-to wine like this–one that’s just reliable and fairly affordable.
Decoy Red Blend
Price Point: About $16
Availability: Widely available @ grocery stores, big box stores, Trader Joes, online
The Nitty Gritty: Nice, bold Napa Valley Red Blend (I LOVE blends!) that is made up mostly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The price point is great for a holiday or “dinner party” wine and it’s widely available.
Brick & Vine Cabernet Sauvignon
Price Point: About $10
Availability: Some grocery stores (Safeway, Albertson’s), online
The Nitty Gritty: A nice, bold Cab coming out of (shocking!) Modesto, CA! I found it very drinkable and flavorful for the price point!
Meomi Pinot Noir
Price Point: About $18
Availability: Widely available at chain grocery stores and some big box stores like Costco.
The Nitty Gritty: It’s my choice for a holiday or dinner party because everyone loves it! Pinot Noir is not usually at the top of my list but I really really enjoy Meomi. It’s the perfect “in-between” for people who like lighter wines and people who enjoy big, bold wines (like me!).
Bar Dog Pinot Noir
Price Point: About $10
Availability: Widely available @ grocery stores, big box stores, Target
The Nitty Gritty: Again, I am not typically a Pinot Noir fan, but this one is super light and smooth. If you are looking for rich flavors, this is not the wine for you. But if you’re looking for a smooth everyday wine that’s affordable and easy to drink, here you go! Bonus: you can buy it on your #targetrun
Cloisonne Cabernet
Price Point: About $20
Availability: Some California grocery stores, some California Costcos, online
The Nitty Gritty: Big, bold Napa Valley Cab that is perfect for a heavier fall/winter meal. Also, a great price point to bring to a friend if you don’t know what wine to buy. I don’t think it’s widely distributed outside of California but you can buy it online.
Pendulum Cabernet Sauvignon
Price Point: About $14
Availability: Some grocery stores, Total Wine & More
The Nitty Gritty: Big bold reds are my absolute fave and this one doesn’t disappoint! It’s from Washington State (vs. Napa Valley) which maybe explains why it’s so affordable? It’s definitely Napa Valley quality though, in my opinion!
Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viognier
Price Point: About $12
Availability: Widely available @ grocery stores, big box stores, Trader Joes
The Nitty Gritty: Clean, crisp and slightly sweet, without being obnoxiously sweet. It’s great with spicy food and super drinkable just on it’s own.
Butter Chardonnay
Price Point: About $12
Availability: Widely available @ grocery stores, big box stores, Trader Joes
The Nitty Gritty: Just as the name suggests, this wine is rich and buttery. It’s a decent, cheaper replacement for my beloved buttery Rombauer (about $40), although nothing really comes THAT close to Rombauer! Great with chicken, pork and it’s even great with heavier dishes.
Kirkland Signature Pinot Grigio Friuli
Price Point: About $6
Availability: Only at Costco
The Nitty Gritty: Clean, crisp wine perfect for a summer evening or when you want just a light glass of wine while cooking dinner.
